Evolving learning at Tsukusaka

Senior High School at Sakado, University of Tsukuba, has developed curriculums and subjects according to the needs of the times since it was established in 1994 as an integrated curriculum high school.

In 2019, University of Tsukuba was selected for the WWL (World Wide Learning) Consortium Project, and Tsukusaka to proceeded with this project as a base school on the basis of its achievements in the SGH (Super Global High School) project.

Also, as an authorized International Baccalaureate (IB) school, we aim to “develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect”, which espouses the IB’s mission statement.

Developing internationally minded people through learning

In addition to the acquisition of basic knowledge and skills, our students aim to acquire “integrated skills” necessary to become internationally-minded people, such as abilities to think logically, to make decisions, and to express themselves effectively, and attitudes to learn proactively so that they can be involved in finding possible solutions for social and cultural issues.

Determine out value and expand possibilities

“Who am I? What do I want? How should I live my life? What kind of person should I become?”

These are some of life’s core questions. These feelings of yours bring you great abilities to make decisions and take action. “Where do I find my meaning? What do I need to expand my own possibilities?” Please try to find the answers through various “interactions” at Tsukusaka, where diverse ways of life are valued.

Priceless moments

Inspiration may come from experiences.

Tsukusaka provides you with a number of opportunities where you can feel inspired. We have the lush greenery surrounding our school grounds, fieldwork and field trips overseas, interaction with people from different backgrounds, and the most-advanced classes at university. These opportunities, coupled with academics, school events and club events, can develop intellectual and emotional maturity.
